about

“Where does the name ‘lane lines’ come from?”
Two answers: one short, one long.
The short answer: Lane is one of my middle names.
The long answer:

Before I even began writing my own songs, I would arrange and record covers of songs that would circulate in my head. The songs that would fascinate me the most were songs that either had a variety of harmonies, or none at all, which would fuel my creativity to create my own. When sitting down to record these vocal covers, I’d have to remind myself which track I was recording at the time, as to not deviate into another harmony line and create a mush of sounds. Was I working on the melody, the third, the fifth, the seventh in some cases? The “ooh” interlude? The “do-do-do” line? Either way, I’d have to remind myself: “stay in your lane.” The tracks on my DAW looked like lane lines to me. Hence the name.

As I prepare to hit the studio to record my second album, I’m reminded of some of the cover songs I recorded over the past few years, and how they inspired me in my own songwriting. Today, I present them to you. They may not be perfect, but they are 100% authentically me and my voice.

All of the proceeds raised go directly towards the costs of creating my second album. Thanks, and enjoy.
